FAQs

Q: Can I use the EVB-80QFP-PIC with my own custom hardware?

A: Yes, but you will need to provide headers on a 0.050" grid. We can sell you these headers and provide a circuit diagram. Just call us.

Q: When will the Internet transactor Home Automation Server be available?

A: Around November, 2003

Q: I just need some advise on picking a microcontroller for my project. Can you help me?

A: Yes. Please email (see contact page) or call us at

If it's a short call, don't worry about incurring any charges!

Q: What software is currently offered with the EVB-8720-NET?

A: Currently, just basic drivers for each of the peripherals. You could use the FREE TCP/IP stack from Microchip. It will need some slight modification, which will be the topic of a future FAQ on this website.

There are other TCP/IP stacks that I recommend. Please see the Links page.

Q: Should I use the MP-LAB IDE to author my code?

A: No! We advise people to use a full-featured editor, such as Codewright, EMACS, Visual Studio IDE, Code Warrior, Slick Edit.

Note: The MP-LAB editor v6.30 just added context high-lighting. They still don't have GREP, advanced Find and Replace, and direct access to the Make file.

There are other reasons, which I'll explain further someday.

Profesional Software Engineers simply have to have these features because of performance issues and integration with revision control systems.

If you are a power user, NO WAY!!!
